Patient had not seen the orthodontist for 8 years. Tooth #9 was missing a pontic was attached to the orthodontic arch wire.
The orthodontic brackets and bands were removed. Teeth #5 ñ #12 were crown lengthened and hyperplasic tissue around #9 was recontoured with an electrosurgery unit. Teeth #8 and #10 were built-up and prepared for a temporary bridge and an ovate pontic site was developed. Composites were placed in teeth #6 and #11. Study models were made and esthetic functional wax-ups for teeth #7 through #10 were ordered.
The patient was placed on a chlorhexidine gluconate mouth rinse and prophylaxis appointments were arranged. Two months later the preparations for #8 and #10 were refined, #7 was prepared and the final impression and a new temporary bridge was made. Numerous composites were also placed at this time.
Impressions of the patient approved temporary restorations were made to communicate incisal edge position, labial contour to the laboratory and for the fabrication of an incisal guide table.
The three unit bridge, #8 to #10, and #7 a single crown were fabricated from Ivoclar
