Michael is a 65 year old that was frustrated with the stain that would re-occur on his lower incisor. Examination revealed a lot of exposed dentin on the edges of the front teeth, with the lower teeth showing roots. The upper anterior teeth erupted too far, with the gum line now altered. Treatment included closed flap laser crown lengthening that was essentially painless and healed predicable in two weeks. Posterior teeth were mostly restored and required some equilibrating for even contact. Most of the anterior damaged is thought to have occurred before the back teeth were restored up north. A diagnostic wax up allowed ideal preparation of the front 6 teeth upper and lower and re-establishing cuspid guidance for longevity of the case. Shade selection was based on Michael’s desire to have his new teeth blend in and look natural. The shade was in the 040 range of the Ivoclar Chromascop. Translucent ingot were selected to allow the natural color change from the body to the gum line and incisal characteristics were added for a natural look. Rob Perouty at BonaDent Lab in Melbourne did an exceptional job working tooth size, contour and coloring to eliminate dark triangle, and restore aesthetics and function. The gum response to the new dentistry is excellent and his chief concern of the lower staining is taken care of as well. Treatment was to place 6 upper and lower Empress crowns for a mini Smile Makeover that blends well with his other teeth and dentistry.
